Zifly

Most of us live out of sync — late nights, coffee at the wrong hours, screens until our eyes hurt. The body clock keeps trying to catch up, leaving us in a permanent state of jet lag. And traditional apps only tell you how badly you slept; they never help you schedule a fix.

Zifly flips that: it's not a tracker, it's a planner. Your day becomes a clear vertical "bubble" path where you map out sleep, bank extra rest, and align habits with your goals — showing you exactly when to wind down and wake up so you never run on empty.

Nook

Nook tackles the gap between what students report and what their bodies show. Every day, users log SUDS self-reports while wearable sensors stream physiological data in the background. The system fuses both signals into a dynamic Stress Discrepancy Index — when the body says one thing and the check-in says another, hidden distress gets flagged instead of slipping through.

When distress is detected, Nook responds on two fronts: AI-driven micro-interventions reach the student in the moment, while an institutional portal lets counselors see escalations and step in with human support. The result is a proactive safety net rather than a reactive one.

Graduate School System icon

Graduate School System

The UIC graduate school runs on paperwork — proposals, endorsements, approvals, defenses. This platform digitizes the entire pipeline end to end, giving students a single place to submit requirements and track progress instead of chasing signatures across offices.

Five roles share one system without stepping on each other: students, coordinators, admin staff, deans, and the registrar each get purpose-built views backed by role-based access control. The defense management module handles scheduling, panels, and results, while document tracking keeps every requirement auditable from submission to approval.

Astral Management System

Astral centralizes the daily grind of running a hotel: tenants, rooms, staff assignments, and maintenance tickets all live in one dashboard. Front desk operations, housekeeping handoffs, and repair workflows that used to happen over phone calls and spreadsheets became tracked, searchable records.

Built with Laravel on the backend and ReactJS with Tailwind plus ShadCN UI on the frontend, the system shipped for a real client deployment — not a demo. That meant handling edge cases like overlapping bookings, partial payments, and maintenance windows that block room availability.

E-Wise icon

E-Wise

Most e-waste ends up in landfills because people don't know what's inside their devices or where to take them. E-Wise lets users snap a photo of any gadget; AI image recognition identifies the device and estimates its recyclable composition — metals, plastics, hazardous components — so users see exactly what they're holding.

To make responsible disposal sticky rather than dutiful, the platform adds an eco-score gamification layer: every properly disposed item earns points, turning sustainable habits into a visible streak worth keeping.

Eduvent

Eduvent replaces roll-call and QR codes with something harder to cheat: location. Organizers draw a spatial boundary around an event venue using OpenStreetMap, and attendees can only check in while their device is inside it — validated by proximity checks at the moment of entry.

Built in Flutter for cross-platform mobile delivery, the system gives organizers live attendance counts as check-ins stream in, per event, without manual tallying.

Mynotes / MyUIC Notebook

Every UIC student reinvents the same review notes. Mynotes turns that into a shared library: students across year levels and departments post their notes, browse a feed filtered to what's relevant for their courses, and bookmark material for exam season.

Upvoting does the curation — the most helpful notes rise to the top, so quality study material surfaces itself instead of getting buried in group chats.

Space Quiz

Space Quiz came out of a time-constrained hackathon with an AI-assisted frontend workflow: rapid iteration, tight scope, ship before the clock. The concept is simple — answer fast, hit hard. Correct answers power attacks against the ogre; wrong ones leave you exposed.

Wrapping quiz mechanics in game feedback (attacks, damage, victory states) keeps players answering for the fun of it, not just the score.

EyeVerify

AI image detectors work on raw generated files — but photograph an AI image with a phone camera and most detectors fold. Camera pipelines resample, compress, and re-light the image, erasing the artifacts detectors rely on. EyeVerify targets exactly that blind spot.

The research focuses on camera-aware preprocessing: reconstructing detection-friendly signal from photos-of-screens before classification, so detection holds up in the real world where misinformation spreads as photos of screens, not original files.

SystemPOS

SystemPOS is built for speed at the counter. Baristas punch orders entirely from the keyboard — no mouse hunts during a morning rush — with itemized billing and receipt generation firing immediately after checkout.

Category management keeps the menu maintainable behind the scenes: drinks, pastries, and add-ons stay organized as the cafe's offerings change, without touching transaction logic.

FurEverAI

Failed adoptions usually trace back to mismatched expectations — an active dog in a small apartment, a clingy cat with an absent owner. FurEverAI treats compatibility as the core matching problem: adopters describe their lifestyle, and the AI matches them with shelter animals whose temperament and needs actually fit.

The goal isn't more adoptions, it's better ones. By optimizing for lifestyle compatibility up front, the platform aims to reduce returns and failed placements that hurt both families and animals.

Codexia

Codexia is a design-first exercise: how premium should a software-hardware collective look? The landing page leans on bold typography, a dark palette, and generous spacing to sell competence before a single product is named.

As a concept piece, it's a playground for aesthetic decisions — type scales, contrast ratios, motion restraint — that inform the production work elsewhere in this portfolio.

Don Macchiatos Commercial Mockup

Don Macchiatos sells great coffee but has no digital storefront to speak of. This mockup asks a playful question: what would the famous 39-peso coffee shop's website look like if it took its online presence as seriously as its brews?

It's a commercial-style concept build — menu presentation, brand personality, and mobile-first layout — done for the fun of reimagining a beloved local brand.

TermsTrap

Nobody reads Terms of Service — companies count on it. TermsTrap flips the economics: paste a link or the raw text, and get back a privacy nutrition label. A safety grade from A to F tells you the verdict at a glance; an ELI5 summary translates legalese into plain language.

Every flag is color-coded and backed by a verbatim quote pulled straight from the document, so you can verify each claim against the source instead of trusting a black-box score.
